I learnt how to wear sarees in my Business School . Every Monday we had to wear sarees and go to the classes. Nothing else was allowed but this learning kept me in great shape in the corporate structure. Among all the management trainees I was given the most respect due to my attire. That is where I learnt that the attire makes all the difference. Once at a client meeting, my client actually though I was senior instead of my boss.
Ever since I have been a collector and wearer of sarees. Luckily for our generation, draping a sarees comes from Youtube and wearing sarees with different blouses also makes it easier for us to be comfortable in sarees. I was always comfortable with wearing a shirt and wearing a saree over it instead of a tailored blouse. Infact I was always referred to as the girl with the shirts and saree. This also helped me be noticeable. In winters I would often teem up a saree with a sleeveless puffer jacket and that looked very smart too.
I discovered this brand called sareesbypriyatna that made sarees that I had never seen before. They even had sarees with two blouse pieces. A particular blue one was with a shimmery blouse and one with a printed satin one. So the idea was to wear the printed one for office. The shimmery one was to be worn for a party with the same sarees. So one could carry just a blouse to office to attend an after office party and reuse the same saree. I really liked the idea and would recommend all young girls to look forward to wearing sarees. Its very environment friendly as you do not run after buying readymades all the time.
